Note: These will be limited to games I have played. There are likely great romance arcs in games I haven’t played. I will limit these to one romance arc per game for the sake of variety. Also, major spoilers for: ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ and its DLC, all of the original ‘Mass Effect’ Trilogy and its DLC, ‘Dragon Age II’, ‘Persona 5 Royal’, and ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ and its DLC. These were determined by how well fleshed out they are, how believable they are, and also how well they’re integrated into the game.
5.) Merrill and Hawk [Dragon Age II]
Extremely cute, with a decent amount of poignant emotion and even a surprise or two.
4.) Liara and Commander Shepard [Mass effect 1-3, and Various DLC]
Extremely in-depth, fairly well realized and has many layers.
3.) Kasumi (Sumire) Yoshizawa and the P5R Avatar [Persona 5 Royal]
My favorite romance arc from an eastern game. Very poignant, surprising and cute as heck.
2.) Triss and Geralt [The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its expansions]
Realistic, in-depth, very sweet and fulfilling. Yes, I prefer her with Geralt over Yen.
1.) Iron Bull and the Inquisitor [Dragon Age: Inquisition]
Extremely unique, fully-realized, poignant, funny and sweet. This in-game romance checks all the boxes.
